60ème anniversaire de la libération du camp

libération du camp
ce soir j'allume des bougies
dans la nuit
liberation of the camp
this evening I light candles
in the night
sonderkommando :
l'homme parle sur fond de neige
plus loin quelques stèles noires
sonderkommando :
he speaks on a background of snow
in the distance some dark tombstones
commémoration
au-delà du barbelé
la blancheur de la neige
commemoration
beyond the barbed wire
the withness of the snow
témoignages...
les arbres fauchés
du verger
accounts ...
the flattened tree
of the orchard
toujours dans la nuit
toutes ces feuilles mortes
dans l'allée
still the night
all these dead leaves
in the avenue
dans le jour qui se lève
les herbes de l'été
brulées par le gel
in dawn
grass of Summer
burnt by the frost

Auschwitz...

One of the darkest pages of our European history. A piece of our inheritance. The industrial death... They were Jews at this time, but we know they can be others by now. This is not the principle of the prisoners camp that makes the model. There were, some time ago in Europe, Omarska, Keraterm, Trnopolje in ex-Yougoslavia. This is the same ideology at work in Guantanamo and that Justice promoting tortue. They were also in Andersonville and beyond in an another country the Goulag, the Kolyma archipelago. At Auschwitz, the nouveauté, the innovation is the industry, the rational implementation of the irrational destruction. A stain on us, Europeans, on our humanist tradition.

We must be able to face it and to have that in mind in every of our daily attitudes.
